Plain Concepts offers a specialized and personalized assessment of database in Azure, to those organizations that have environments based on Azure’s managed services with applications that make use of them and demand high workloads.
This assessment will analyze and detail all the appropriate data and activities that will need to be performed to solve the improvements and incidents detected that will provide optimization in the management and performance of the database services deployed in the Cloud.
This assessment includes the Azure SQL Database, Azure Database for MySQL, and Azure Database for PostgreSQL storage services.
Assessment steps
1. Initial data collection
The first phase of the assessment is focused on carrying out an initial data collection of the current environments in Azure and understanding the nature of the information currently stored, the purpose of the same, as well as the different workloads that need to be supported.
The analysis is not focused exclusively on the technical components of Azure, but also on more functional aspects, such as the criteria that have led the client to the current state, its priorities, and objectives.
The points included in the assessment are:
- Review of the general configuration of the databases.
- Review of the scalability of the database model.
- Review of the existing high availability mechanisms.
- Review of the existing backup mechanisms.
- Transfer of good practices to the development team for database work.
- Review of database access mechanisms and patterns from the code.
- Indexes review.
- Review and optimization of more expensive queries.
- Optimization of the connection management model.
2. Technical report generation
This phase is focused on the study of the data collected in the data collection phase and subsequent connections that will be made to the customer’s Azure tenant.
3. Executive presentation of the assessment
The executive presentation of the assessment focuses on a PowerPoint presentation of the technical assessment, but with more executive content, with summaries of the current situation.
4. Roadmap presentation
As the last step in the assessment, a three-hour session will be dedicated to the presentation of the remediation roadmap, which will detail all the activities with their prioritization that will allow the resolution of the detected incidents.
This presentation will be addressed to those technical and management profiles related to Azure’s environments.
Each phase of the assessment lasts one day and all of them can be carried out remotely.
